Acceptable Content and File Format Upload Policy


1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the acceptable upload of content and file formats to our learning and teaching repository to ensure respect for copyright, privacy, and intellectual property requirements.
 

2. Acceptable Content

  • Educational Relevance: Content must be directly related to teaching, learning, or academic research.

  • Accuracy and Integrity: Content should be accurate, up-to-date, and free from misleading information.

  • Non-Offensive: Content must not be defamatory, discriminatory, or otherwise offensive.

  • Legally Compliant: Uploads must adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including copyright and intellectual property rights.
     

3. File Formats

  • Supported Formats: Acceptable file formats include but are not limited to .pdf, .docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .csv, .txt, .mp4, and .mp3. Files should be virus-free and not executable.

  • Quality and Accessibility: Files should be of a quality that is suitable for educational use and accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
     

4. Copyright and Intellectual Property

  • Ownership or Permission: Users must own the content or possess explicit permissions from the copyright owner to share the content.

  • Attribution: Proper attribution must be given to the original authors or creators.

  • No Infringement: Do not upload content that infringes on the copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of others.
     

5. Privacy

  • Consent for Personal Data: Any personal data included must comply with data protection laws and require explicit consent from individuals involved.

  • Confidentiality: Do not share confidential or proprietary information without proper authorisation.
     

6. Responsibility and Enforcement

  • User Responsibility: Users are responsible for ensuring that their uploads comply with this policy and all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Monitoring and Removal: The institution reserves the right to monitor content and remove any files that violate this policy or the law.

  • Consequences of Violation: Violating this policy may result in removal of the content, suspension of upload privileges, or other disciplinary actions.

8.Acceptance

By uploading files to the repository, users acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this policy. Users also agree to indemnify and hold harmless the institution from any claim or demand made by any third party due to or arising out of the user's breach of this policy.
